Motorcycle Insurance Coverages
Choose from a wide range of coverages to craft your perfect policy.
Knowing your options
Knowing what motorcycle insurance coverages are available can help you put together a great policy. Especially if you have a new bike, added aftermarket parts or carry valuables with you when you ride. Your policy should match how you use your bike.
Bodily injury liability
This coverage is essential as it protects you in the event that you're responsible for causing injury to another person in an accident. Depending on your state, coverage could be extended to your passengers as well.
Property damage liability
This takes care of any damages your motorcycle might cause to someone else's property. This could be another vehicle, road sign or fence.
Optional coverage
Medical payments
Medical payments can help cover your medical costs associated with an accident, regardless of who is at fault.
Collision
This pays for repairs to your motorcycle if you're involved in an accident.
Comprehensive
This option covers your bike against theft, vandalism, or damage from natural disasters.
Uninsured/Underinsured
If you're hit by a driver who doesn't have enough insurance (or any at all), this coverage can help.
OEM parts coverage
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Most riders want their bikes repaired with parts from their motorcycle manufacturer. Some insurance companies will automatically include this coverage whereas with others you may have to pay extra to add it.
New bike replacement
Receive a new motorcycle if yours is totoaled. Only available for bikes that are 1-2 years old. Not available with all insurance companies.
Custom parts and equipment
Add more coverage for aftermarket parts like pipes, handlebars and seats. Typically, insurance companies will include around $3,000 in coverage. For an additional charge, you can increase this limit.
Roadside assistance
For those unforeseen events like a flat tire or a breakdown, roadside assistance can be a lifesaver.
Replacement cost coverage
In case of a total loss, some policies may cover the full replacement cost of your bike without factoring in depreciation. This becomes important if you have a unique or highly customized motorcycle.
Carried contents
Covers your personal belongings such as phones, backpacks and clothing.
